Trivia Tuesday: Let the shopping begin!

We’re just two short days away from Thanksgiving, a day to spend time with the ones we love, reflect on all the ways in which God has blessed our lives, and, for many of us, map out a plan for the super Friday sales.

In fact, holiday shopping plays a role in when Thanksgiving is celebrated.

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln first declared Thanksgiving a national holiday to be celebrated on the last Thursday of November.

Decades later, a different administration officially moved Turkey Day to the fourth Thursday of the month. He specifically did this to spark the economy, allowing ample time for Christmas shopping on the occasional years when November contains five Thursdays.

Which U.S. president declared Thanksgiving should be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November?

Take a guess in the comments section and we’ll post the correct answer next week.

Answer to last week’s question: You use 100 percent of your brain. As explained by Dr. Aaron Carroll, your brain is much like a running car. All of it works all of the time, but parts “rev up” depending on what you need to do.
