Featuring Dave Becker, senior enrollment counselor for the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies
1. What is your role at the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies?
I am a senior enrollment counselor with SGCS. I basically recruit public school teachers to enroll in our master's degree programs.
2. You were in full-time ministry. How do you remain active in the church?
Yes, I was senior pastor of several congregations in the Midwest and in Texas. I stay active by teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and occasionally preaching in various churches in the area.
3. We hear you're quite the handyman. What big projects do you have on the horizon?
With the help of a very handy friend, I am building cabinets for a kitchen remodel for our 1940-era two-story in the Riverview neighborhood of Kankakee. I saved a boat-load of money and learned something new in the process!
4. You recently welcomed your fourth grandchild into the world - congrats! What's the best thing about being a grandpa?
Cecilia Danae Cash arrived on March 10 and is wonderful!! She has a full head of hair (unlike Grandpa) and is healthy and thriving. The best thing about being a grandpa is being called "Pa" and watching those little faces light up when they see you.
5. What are you most looking forward to with the return of the warm weather?
Consistent motorcycle riding. I'm a proud member of the "Wild ONU Hogs."
