Word of the Week Wednesday: Gustatory

Gustatory: (adj.) Of or pertaining to the sense of taste.

It could mean delicious or the sort of not-so-good taste that makes you pucker and wince and spit it out. Like the twang of sour milk or the bitter kick of horseradish.

Summer is a season of many sweet gustatory flavors, too. Peaches that splutter and give with one bite, tangy juice dribbling down your chin.

Or, now that it is almost July, blackberries, with their contradictory gustatory tendency of being both tart and sumptuously sweet.

Hungry?
