This week at Olivet

Events on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University for the week of Monday, September 28 through Sunday, October 4, 2009:

NSA Blood Drive
Wednesday, September 30
12 to 6 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to be the hero in a movie that saves a life? Well here’s your chance!

The Nursing Student Assocation is hosting a blood drive. Donate blood to save lives on Wednesday, September 30 in the Turf Room. The NSA will be there from 12-6 p.m. You can sign up in Ludwig or stop by the turf room when it’s convenient for your schedule. There will be food for people that donate.

Purple and Gold Days
Friday and Saturday, October 2-3

High school seniors and their parents are invited to join us for an in-depth look at life at Olivet.

Some of the opportunities afforded to students and their families during this weekend include: touring the campus, meeting with admissions counselors, meeting with financial aid representatives, attending an academic open house, campus meals, Tiger athletic events, and the Orpheus Variety show! Students stay overnight in a campus resident hall with a current Olivet student. Reduced lodging rates are available for parents at area hotels.

Orpheus Variety Show

An annual tradition, the Orpheus Variety Show always plays to a packed house because of its consistently outstanding entertainment value. A night of hilarious comedy sketches and great music, this is an event the whole family will love.

Planetarium showings: STARS

Strickler Planetarium

Narrated by Star Wars' Mark Hamill and with a soundtrack performed by the Nashville Orchestra, “STARS” explores the dynamic life and death of stars, the powerhouses of the universe.This show is suitable for general audiences and educationally geared toward middle school level and above.STARS explores star birth, giant stars, pulsars, and black holes as well as a providing a brief history of astronomy and an introduction to our solar system, the galaxy and the nature of light.

Running time is approximately 25 minutes.

Please note that the new seating capacity of the planetarium is 50 individuals.

No reservations are accepted, and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to show.
